Belonging - Overcoming Barriers - Luke 19
This message confronts one of the most insidious barriers to experiencing God's abundant life: busyness. Through the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19, we're reminded that Jesus is never too busy to stop for us—He looked up into that tree and said 'I must stay at your house today.' Yet how often do we find ourselves too busy for Him? The sermon unpacks the parable of the sower, showing us that it's not dramatic sin that chokes out God's word in our lives, but rather 'the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desire for other things.' We're discipled by our culture into lives of constant activity—cleaning skirting boards, climbing career ladders, filling every moment with productivity. But Ecclesiastes warns us that all this striving is like 'chasing after the wind'—we can never catch it, never arrive, never be done.
