Who Are You? - 1 Samuel 16:7
This sermon launches our series on 'God Lessons from the Life of David'. While people judge by outward appearances —strength, stature, social status—, God looks at the heart. We're reminded of those painful childhood memories of being picked last for playground football, feeling overlooked and insignificant. Yet here's the stunning revelation: if we love Jesus, we've already been chosen. Not as a last resort to make up numbers, but deliberately selected before the foundation of the world. God adopted us, not because we deserved it, but because it gave Him great pleasure. We are His masterpiece, His friends, temples of the Holy Spirit, deeply and intensely loved. The twenty-plus years between David's anointing and his coronation weren't wasted time—they were seasons of hiddenness, preparation, and foundation-building. Our difficult seasons aren't evidence of God's forgetfulness but proof of His thoroughness. The question isn't whether we're talented enough or worthy enough—it's whether we'll stop pretending to be someone else and embrace who God created us to be.
