Your Kingdom Come - Sowing Sunday
What does it look like when God speaks the same word through different people who haven’t spoken to one another? Rooted in Isaiah 58, this message explores what it means to be called to repair the breach. God promises that as we pour ourselves out for the hungry and care for the afflicted, our light will rise in the darkness, our strength will be renewed, and ancient ruins will be rebuilt. The message connects that picture of a breach with the growing gaps left by a declining church presence across the nation: congregations shrinking, buildings being repurposed, and the sound of worship fading from town centres. It calls us to respond with faith, trusting that God has spoken and confirmed his word. There is an “if” in this promise that we cannot skip over. If we pour ourselves out, then God promises to act. This is an invitation to take part in what he is doing, to serve those who are hurting and trust him with what follows. And what he promises is extraordinary.
