God lessons from the life of David - God's Faithfulness
The conclusion to our series on David's life centres on 2 Samuel 7:1-16, where God makes an promise to the shepherd-turned-king. When David expresses concern that God's presence dwells in a tent while he enjoys a cedar palace, God flips the script entirely: David won't build God a house; God will build David a house—an eternal kingdom and dynasty. This reminds us that God's faithfulness doesn't depend on our worthiness or accomplishments, but solely on His character. David was far from perfect, committing grievous sins, yet God remained faithful to His word. The promise found its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, born from David's lineage, establishing that everlasting kingdom. We discover that God's grace is unmerited favour—something we can never earn or deserve.
