Your Kingdom Come - The Happiest Givers

What does it really mean to be generous? In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul reveals that generosity is about far more than money—it is an act of worship. The Greek expression translated “sow bountifully” carries the idea of blessing and praise. In other words, when we give, we are not simply meeting a need; we are expressing our devotion to God. Paul wrote these words at a time when believers in Jerusalem were suffering through famine and persecution. Yet he wanted the church to see their situation as more than a practical problem. He wanted them to see it through the lens of the gospel. That same shift in perspective matters for us today. C. S. Lewis described three responses to God: disobedience, reluctant obedience that feels like paying a tax, and willing obedience flowing from a surrendered heart. True generosity belongs to that third response. It is not forcing ourselves to do something we would rather avoid. It is the natural overflow of a life transformed by grace—a life so captivated by God that giving becomes worship.
