ClosePsalm 51 takes us deep into David's heart after his moral failure with Bathsheba, revealing the truth: God's mercy is greater than our failures. We discover that sin isn't primarily about breaking a list of rules, but about rejecting God's authority and substituting our own will for His. David's cry for mercy teaches us that all sin, regardless of who else it affects, is fundamentally a sin against God because it breaks our fellowship with Him. The most encouraging revelation is how God could forgive David's heinous crimes: through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ that reaches backward and forward through time.
